Welcome

Welcome to the website of St James, Bramley.  We hope you will find it helpful and informative, and would be delighted to welcome you to come and worship God with us on a Sunday.

To find the church with a SatNav, use the postcode RG26 5DF

During this second lock-down, starting Thursday 5th November, St James’s Church is holding just one service on Sunday mornings: a virtual service on Zoom at 10.30am.

Our virtual service is easy to access on a computer or any other digital device. It is also possible to listen to the service on any phone if you aren’t able to access it on a computer.  In order to sign up for these services, please contact Steve Day, our Administrator, on crosshousebramley@gmail.com or by phone on 07341 552732, and he will gladly provide you with a link to enable you to join us.

The church is also open for private prayer on Wednesdays  between 10am and 3pm and on Sundays following the Church service until 3pm.  Anyone coming into the church needs to observe social distancing and to use hand sanitiser on arriving and leaving; but please do feel free to come in and spend a little while praying and reflecting on God’s goodness.

Please keep checking back for updates on this website, in case of changes to the Government’s advice/regulations.

The Church of England is publishing advice with daily updates on its website, which we are following closely at St James. (A link to the website advice is below).

Our (virtual) Services

Even though the Coronavirus pandemic restricts our ability to meet physically at present, we are still getting together as a church online!

If you and your family would like to join in, please email our Parish Administrator, Steve Day, on crosshousebramley@gmail.com and he will be glad to send you a link.

Our virtual service on Zoom runs from 10:30 am on a Sunday.  We open up for people to join at any time from 10:15 am, so we can greet one another and chat.  At the end of the service, we use Zoom’s Breakout Room facility to allow small random groups to chat with each other.  It’s lots of fun and an opportunity to catch up with everyone in our Church Family.

Younger children are not very interested in Zoom services, we find!  So for the 3-8 year olds, we have a chance to watch a Bible story narrated by one of our lovely Shell Club team members.  If you aren’t already part of our Facebook Group membership, please go to our Facebook page and ask to join the private group, and our administrator will be glad to let you in.

JAM (Jesus and Me) is aimed at older children, 8+ and takes place on Zoom at 7:30 pm on Sunday evenings.  If you would like to enrol your  child/children, please let Steve Day know so he can add you to the distribution list for the appropriate Zoom link.

Do join us in our virtual services!  There’s no shortage of space online!

Other Churches in our Benefice

Our parish of Bramley and Little London is part of a group of parishes known as a Benefice. We work together, sharing resources and helping one another out when needed, while also retaining our individual styles and preferences as we worship the living God.

These are the other churches in our Benefice:

  • St Leonard’s Church, Sherfield on Loddon
  • St Mary the Virgin, Hartley Westpall
  • St Mary the Virgin, Stratfield Saye

Currently, in-person services in these churches are restricted and we would advise you to contact the relevant church for their opening and service times.  Some are continuing to hold virtual services and again you should check the websites of each of the Churches above for more details if you wish to join them.
