Sunday 23 April 2017 (Sermon Sunday@Nine):
Why did Thomas refuse to accept what the other 10 disciples were saying?…..

Sunday 4th April 2017 (S@N Sermon):
The notion of God’s love coming to us free of charge, no strings attached, seems to go against every instinct of humanity. The Buddhist eight-fold path, the Hindu doctrine of karma, the Jewish covenant, and the Muslim code of law — each of these offers a way to earn approval.
Only Christianity dares to make God’s love unconditional….
Sunday 29th January 2017 (S@N):
This week we were visited by the Revd Paul Southern who gave a thought provoking Sermon reflecting on the following….would the phrase “I was never the same again” more likely be your response to times of loss or gain?
Sunday 22nd January 2017 (S@N):
We were visited today by the Revd Bob Pollit who gave a wonder sermon reflecting on the importance of building a relationship with Christ. Who do you think Jesus is and what does he mean to you…..?
Sunday 8th January 2017:
“Open wide your mouth and I will fill it!” His word lies open for us to read, revealing Himself to us as “the One who loved us and gave Himself for us.” Everywhere, we see the evidence of God’s nature as a Giver: “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son”. He also knows what we have and what we give, do you give enough?……
Sunday 1st January 2017:

Feeling hungry? The obvious thing to do is to have a meal – and if we want to do our bodies the most good, we make sure it’s healthy food rather than just a packet of crisps! So what do we do when we feel a spiritual emptiness in our lives? There’s no better spiritual food than the “God-breathed” words of the Bible.
Sunday 18th December 2016:

We’re all filled with horror at the hostility that we see in the world around us, especially in Syria; but do we realise that by refusing to accept God’s loving will for our lives, we become His enemies?
At the first Christmas, God took the initiative to bring peace and reconciliation between Himself and us.
Sunday 4th December 2016:
Cornelius thought he was looking for God… but actually, God was looking for him. And Peter thought he was a teacher of the Gospel… but actually, God had things to teach him. He’s the God of the unexpected: sometimes He turns things upside down.

Sunday 20th November 2016:
How are we seeking to follow Jesus? In what ways should we be trying, empowered by his Holy Spirit, to imitate Him in His life on earth?……
Sunday 30th October 2016:
When someone comes to faith in Jesus Christ, what effects should we expect to see in their lives? And how might we who are already His followers encourage new believers and help them to grow in their faith?….

Sunday 23rd October 2016 (Sunday@Nine):
We come to the end of Paul’s letter to the Galatians. Although he obviously dictated the letter to a scribe, he authenticates it by signing it himself in big, bold script, to show how important the message in it is – and he takes the trouble to remind them of its main theme: that in Christ, they are a “new creation”, and that outward signs like circumcision are not important in themselves – just a picture of what is happening in someone’s spirit as they put their trust in Christ.
Sunday 16th October 2016 (Old Testament Super Heroes):

Three men, each putting their confidence in something… Goliath, the giant, confident in his own strength; Saul, the king, who put confidence in his armour and weapons; and David, the shepherd boy, who put his trust in the living God and His ability to save. So what is our confidence based on?
Reading – 1 Samuel 17:32-50:
Sermon:
Sunday 25th September 2016 (Harvest Festival):
Appropriately for Harvest Sunday, Paul tells us “A man reaps what he sows.” When we put our faith in Jesus Christ, trusting Him for the future, the slate is wiped clean. God gives us His Holy Spirit, who immediately starts work on us, to change us, to make us more like God’s Son, Jesus. But we have a part to play, too: when the Spirit prompts us to do something or not to do something else, do we listen? That’s “sowing to please the Spirit”. To ignore His prompting, to go our preferred way, is “sowing to please our sinful nature”. Which will produce the better crop?
Sunday 4th September 2016:
How would we feel about an heir who inherited a vast fortune from a father who loved him dearly, and then said, “No, I don’t deserve this. I must work very hard, doing any degrading or difficult job so as to try and earn this legacy.” We’d rightly think that heir was out of his mind: his father left it to him because he loved his son; the son could never work hard enough or long enough to earn it!
Yet, says Paul, that is what the Galatian church members have been doing…
Over the summer we’ve been thinking about the subject of faith, looking at the great “faith chapter” of the Bible: Hebrews, chapter 11.

Sunday 28 August 2016:
In the last of our series, the writer to the Hebrews runs out of space to be able to go on citing examples of the faith of Old Testament heroes and heroines – there are so many! So he sums it all up by pointing to the way God enables ordinary people who trust him to achieve extraordinary things; but also, how God enables ordinary people who trust him to endure extraordinary suffering. How? They all trusted God, that He had “something better” waiting for them.
Sunday 21 August 2016:
Our Old Testament hero this week is Moses (and his parents!) “By faith,” says Hebrews, his parents defied the law by keeping him hidden; “by faith” Moses himself chose suffering and deprivation rather than privilege and wealth. What might that mean for us?
Sunday 31st July 2016:
Most of us are familiar with Joseph’s eventful life through the brilliant musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat”. But Hebrews 11 focuses on Joseph at the very end of his life. As he faced old age and death, could he trust God for the future of his children, grandchildren and the generations that followed? And could he be confident in God’s grace as he thought about his own death?
Sunday 24th July 2016:
“Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (Hebrews chapter 11, verse 1). So what does faith tell us about Creation… and what did it mean for Cain, Abel and Enoch? It’s a matter of life and death…
Sunday 17th July 2016:
Hebrews 11 was aimed at encouraging a group of people to persevere in their Christian faith, even though they were going through tough times. After all, if Noah could trust God enough to build a massive ark in an arid land, surely they (and we) could hold on and trust Him – couldn’t they?
In our Sunday morning services, we’ve been working our way through the apostle Paul’s letter to the Galatians:
Sunday 10th July 2016:

If the only way that we can have a relationship with God is by trusting in His grace, accepting that Jesus took the punishment that we deserved, then what was the point in God giving Moses – and us – the Ten Commandments? If God knew we couldn’t keep them, why give them to us at all? Paul gives us here the negative purpose – what God never intended in giving us the Law – and the positive: what God always intended.
Sunday 3rd July 2016:
Nobody likes to be thought stupid… but here is Paul, who loved those people in the Galatian churches, calling them a bunch of dummies! What’s gone so badly wrong?
Sunday 12th June 2016:
Paul sets out the difference between the Big Lie – “justification by works” – and the Big Truth: “justification by faith in Jesus Christ”. So what’s all this about “justification” and why is it important?
